Snapchat Ads are full-screen digital advertisements that businesses can use to reach a highly engaged audience on the Snapchat app. Snapchat Ads can help businesses:

MoEngage <> Snapchat  

The integration of MoEngage and Snapchat Ads allows you to synchronize your audience segments on MoEngage with Snapchat. This enables the creation of highly targeted advertising campaigns tailored to specific end users.

The integration with MoEngage helps you with the following use cases:

  • Elevating user interaction and sales on Snapchat: By leveraging detailed user insights from MoEngage, you can identify and direct campaigns towards your most valuable customer segments on Snapchat.
  • Reactivating dormant users via Snapchat: You can engage individuals who have shown reduced interest in your regular marketing efforts by delivering personalized display advertisements directly on Snapchat.
  • Maximizing your Snapchat Ad budget: You can refine your advertising expenditure by forming suppression lists within Snapchat Ads.
  • Streamlining new customer growth on Snapchat: You can build powerful lookalike audiences within the Snapchat Ads platform.

Prerequisites

  • Snapchat business account: To use this feature, you must have an active advertising account with Snapchat and an Ad account to use the marketing APIs.
  • Snapchat’s marketing APIs: Use Snapchat’s marketing APIs to sync audiences or users to Snapchat Ads through MoEngage. You can use your existing app and Ad account or create a new one to connect with MoEngage. To access Snapchat's Marketing API, ensure you have an active Snapchat Business account. 
  • Snapchat Ads is part of the Connected Channels add-on. Contact your dedicated MoEngage CSM (customer success manager) to enable it for your account.

Step 1: Create a Business Account on Snapchat

To set up a business account, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to Ads Manager using your preferred Snapchat username and password.
  2. Type your business name and click Next.
  3. Type your business details.
  4. Confirm your ad account country and currency, then add a phone number and business website.
  5. Click Next. This creates your organization and ad account.

After you have established a business, you can activate Marketing APIs and follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to Ads Manager.
  2. Click the menu in the upper-left corner and select Business Dashboard, then select Business Details.
  3. Click +OAuth App.
  4. Agree to the terms and conditions to activate access.
  5. Click Save.
  6. To connect MoEngage to your Snapchat App configuration, type the specific URL in the Snap Redirect URI box based on the following MoEngage data center:

  7. After your OAuth app is created, obtain the Snap Client ID and Snap Client Secret Key.

    • To integrate Snapchat with the MoEngage App marketplace, you need the Snap Client ID and Snap Client Secret Key.
    • The Snap Client Secret Key is generated and displayed only once.

Step 2: Connect Snapchat on the App Marketplace

To connect Snapchat on the App marketplace, perform the following steps:

  1. On the left navigation menu in the MoEngage dashboard, click App marketplace.
  2. On the App Marketplace page, search for Snapchat.
  3. Click the Snapchat tile. 
  4. On the Snapchat page, go to the Integrate tab. 
  5. Click the arrow and then select one of the following options:
    • Create Customer List
    • Add Users to Customer List
    • Remove Users from Customer list
  6. Based on the selected connector type, enter the following details:
    Field Required Description
    Connection name Yes

    Name of the Snapchat connection.

    Snap Client ID Yes

    This is the Snap Client ID of your OAuth App. 

    Snap Client Secret Key

    Yes

    This is the Snap Client Secret Key of your OAuth App.

    Advertiser ID

    Yes

    This is your Advertiser ID of your Snapchat Ads Account.


  7. Click Connect. Your Snapchat connection is now integrated.

Step 3: Create a Campaign on MoEngage to Sync Audiences to Snapchat Ads

To create a Snapchat campaign on MoEngage, perform the following steps:

  1. On the left navigation menu in the MoEngage dashboard, click Engage, and then click  Campaigns.
  2. On the All campaigns page, click + Create campaign.
  3. On the Create campaign dialog box, under Connected Apps, click Snapchat and then click the most suitable delivery type.
  4. Under Select audience, click Filter users by.
  5. On the User property tab, select the user segment for Snapchat syncing. You can combine this with other segment criteria.
  6. In step 2 of the campaign, Content, select the pre-configured connectors and specify the content you want to send out. Enter the following details:

    You can perform the following actions:

    • Create Customer List.
    • Add Users to Customer List.
    • Remove Users from Customer List.
    Connections Select the connection you’ve added to the MoEngage App marketplace.

Sync to an Existing Audience on Snapchat

If you want to add or remove users from an existing Audience on Snapchat, you must provide the Audience ID. You can view the audience on Snapchat by navigating to Snapchat Ads Manager:

  1. Click the menu in the upper-left corner > Assets and select Audiences.
  2. Open your Audience by clicking the Audience Name.

  3. Note the Audience ID from the URL.

Create a New Audience on Snapchat

To create a new Audience on Snapchat, you can use the Create Customer list connector and perform the following steps:

  1. Select the Create a customer list connector and the connection you created.
  2. Enter the Audience Name and other required details.
  3. Run a test campaign and review the response.The highlighted ID is your Audience ID. Use it to add or remove users from this Audience. You can find this ID in Snapchat here.

    Do not publish this campaign; it creates multiple audiences with the same name on Snapchat.

    Based on the connector you select, you must provide the following information:

    This is the name of your Audience Segment. This creates a new Customer List with the provided name.

    Audience Segment Description

    Give your Audience Segment a description.

    Retention in days

    Yes

    Select the number of days to retain audience members. The default is lifetime (9999 days).



  4. Your campaign is now ready to be tested and sent to your audience. Using the Test functionality, you can also test your connector configuration.
    If your test user successfully receives the message, your setup is ready.
  5. Publish the campaign.
    Note: If you're creating a new audience, do not publish the campaign.

Step 4: View Your Snapchat Ads Audience Segments

In your Snapchat Ads Manager, select Assets > Audience to view the size and synced users for each audience.
